From the desk of Bro. Mike

Our church values the words of the Bible. Each Sunday classes gather to learn about and discuss the meaning of Bible passages. I preach from the Bible at every worship service. The pulpit is the center focus in a Baptist church because when we gather together we come to hear the Bible for guidance, inspiration, correction, and hope.

Recently, I have asked our children to begin learning various Bible verses through memorization. What a blessing this has been to me personally and I hope to the children and their families. Now, in all kinds of settings, from ballgames to stores to church events, children are coming up to me with their parents to recite the month’s memory verse.

I wonder if the adults in our church might want to take the challenge to memorize parts of the Bible. For some time, my Tuesday Bible Study group has been sharing verses they memorize. I love to hear what they have chosen and when they speak the words in our gathering it is truly inspiring.

Below is a list from a website of the top ten searched for Bible verses. You may want to try a verse a month by using these popular ones or you may want to pick your own. Will you do me a favor? Share what you memorize. Stop me and share your verse. Share what you learn with your family and friends. “Hiding the Word in your heart” will mostly be a blessing for you. May it be so.
